| Notes: | Although he was of the right age, he never served in the war because of a limp that he had from when he was born. It was almost corrected thru surgery as a child but he never quite got the hang of doing athletic things. Couldn't really throw a ball and didn't drive. Although he usually took a new car out for a quick spin just to say that he drove it. After a year teaching, he joined Saunders of Toronto publishing firm. He worked as a salesman travelling across Canada multiple times a year and frequently to New York to meet with publishing houses Saunders represented such as Scribners. He also represented Frederick Warne bringing Peter Rabbit to Canada. After he retired, he and Vivienne moved to Orilla at the advice of friends there. He researched and wrote a short book published by the Orillia Historical Society on the history of the street names of Orillia. His passions were Vivienne, the kids, opera, puppies and cookies in more/less that order. Photo provided by John McDonald - 01 2021 |
